Introduction from Martha Suárez With lots of energy in 2021, we are already experiencing a lot of movement for dynamic spectrum access this year. We are very excited about ANATEL’s decision to open the complete 5925-7124 MHz band (6 GHz band) for unlicensed access, this marks a significant milestone towards unlocking the full potential of Wi-Fi 6E in the Americas region. We are also seeing a lot of momentum for Wi-Fi worldwide. Our commitment to making sure the potential of the band is realised worldwide led to publishing some new studies which revealed the economic value of the 6GHz band, Colombia and Mexico in partnership with Telecom Advisory Services. We are also excited to begin working on a study in Peru which we look forward to sharing with you soon! These have been a couple of busy months in terms of advocacy. Already in January and February we submitted 14 contributions to Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, India, Peru, Jordan, Argentina, UK, Canada, Europe Saudi Arabia and Nigeria. This month, we are filing to the European Public Consultation on the Draft RSPG Opinion on a Radio Spectrum Policy Programme (RSPP). Finally, welcome to Michael Daum, Director of Technology Policy at Microsoft, as the new Chairman of the DSA Board. I would like to congratulate Michael and I look forward to working together towards effective spectrum utilisation!

Last year highlighted the critical need for a connection during a crisis. We have relied on it to continue education, work, healthcare as well as entertainment and social activities with friends and families. We have grown to depend on this fundamental connection line and as more technologies, use cases and applications come onto the market the demand is growing exponentially and only innovation and engagement with regulators will make this possible.
